A fine bird she is,
that eagle.
Deadly talons,
long,
curved,
and black they are.
Brilliant eyes,
orange and keen.
Robust body,
feathers
splashed with hues
of chestnut and coal,
breast smothered
in pure white.
Her dangerous claws
glint with sunlight,
as the beautiful hunter
lifts her great wings
and takes off.
And there she goes!
Soaring in the ocean-blue sky,
ripping the warm air with her wings.
So mighty,
so powerful,
so graceful.
She parts her yellow beak,
and a shrill call escapes,
shaking up prey in the forest below.
Ah!
Something has caught her eye.
A bundle of brown fur
streaks through a clearing.
With her talons extended,
the feared predator swoops,
dropping through the air so fast,
a human might have mistaken her
for a meteor.
A squeal
rings out,
but she has caught it,
her rabbit.
A fine bird she is,
that eagle.
